Redmi k20 Pro is a great device sporting the flagship processor from early 2019 which still, at today’s standards comes on top of the mid-budget section. But how good is the phone according to the internet? let’s check it out.
Redmi K20 pro was probably one of the best phones launched in the year 2019 and it fares well among its competitors even in the year 2020. K20 pro or Xiaomi Mi 9T they are basically rebranded version of the same phone. It can play games like PUBG and COD at very high settings and its camera is also on par with many of the flagship phones. The good thing about this phone is that it is notchless.
ORDINARY TECH RATING SCALE (OTRS)I understand it can get a little tricky even for a reviewer to exactly explain how they feel a particular aspect of a gadget is. Top reviewers get to have their hands on a lot of products and they’ll have to explain how they feel about a particular aspect of a product through words. I study the emotion, enthusiasm and use of strong words by a reviewer and convert that into a number system ranking from 0 to 10 with 10 being perfect and 0 being the opposite.
- 6.39 inches, 100.2 cm2 (~86.1% screen-to-body ratio)
- Super Amoled
- 1080 x 2340 pixels
- 19.5:9 ratio
- ~403 ppi density
- Corning Gorilla Glass 5
The display is great. The punchy colors and deep blacks produced from a Super AMOLED display will be loved by most. Every reviewer was happy with the display. In my opinion, you just can’t go wrong with a super AMOLED display. Although, the device has been reported with touch latency and Multi-finger touch issues which is quite common with a Super AMOLED technology.
|-MKBHD “To me this phone has the best display in mid-range phone”||8|
|-MrWhosetheboss “It is fairly bright and punchy because of the Amoled Tech”||7|
|-GeekyRanjit “they have provided a good quality screen in this phone.”||8|
|-Beebom “There is a multi touch issue in the K20 pro . When using 3 fingers at the same time there is a small jitter on the display”||5|
- 156.7 x 74.3 x 8.8 mm
- Glass front (Gorilla Glass 5)
- Glass back (Gorilla Glass 5)
- Aluminum frame
- Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by)
- Headphone jack present.
- In-screen fingerprint scanner
The Redmi K20 Pro has a very good build quality. Made out with Aluminium frame and both the front and backside of the phone is supported with a Gorilla Glass 5 which is still one of the best glasses out there. The phone feels premium to hold and every reviewer seems to appreciate the built quality. In fact, build quality could be deemed as one of the best attributes of this phone. The design choice and Color pattern chosen for the back panel will be appreciated by all. The flame-like Red and Blue colored back looks great to the eye. Redmi won the aesthetic department with this phone. Although, most reviewers did mention that the build felt premium and good for the price point and probably not as good as a flagship-level device. So, this needs to be kept in mind.
|-MKBHD “Overall solid Build quality”||9|
|-MrWhoseTheBoss “great build quality for the price”||8|
|-Geekyrankith “the build quality is really good”||9|
|-Beebom “after using for sometime, power button became a little mushy””right size and not slippery””I like the design of this phone”||7|
- Qualcomm SM8150 Snapdragon 855 (7 nm)
- Octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 485 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 485 & 4×1.78 GHz Kryo 485) CPU
- Adreno 640 GPU
- Android 9.0 (Pie), MIUI 12
- 64GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM
- UFS 2.1
These specs mean stellar performance for the price. Smooth lag-free performance and you’re getting a flagship-grade phone of 2019. As far as I’ve seen, every reviewer seemed to be happy with the performance while many of them were surprised to see such performance at such a low price. The Redmi k20 pro comes with a snapdragon 855 processor which is fabricated over the 7nm platform. This translates to great power efficiency as well. With my thorough research, I can guarantee the performance of the Redmi K20 pro. You’ll not be disappointed.
|-MKBHD “there’s solid performance”||9|
|-MrWhoseTheboss “Very snappy phone”||9|
|-Beebom” performance is flagship grade”||9|
- 48 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/2.0″, 0.8µm, PDAF, Laser AF
- 8 MP, f/2.4, 53mm (telephoto), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm, PDAF, 2x optical zoom
- 13 MP, f/2.4, 12mm (ultrawide), 1/3.1″, 1.12µm
- Motorized pop-up 20 MP, f/2.2, (wide), 1/3.4″, 0.8µm
As far as my research went, I’ve noticed this common trend where some reviewers were not happy with the front camera. MKBHD literally trashed to front camera performance in his review video. Most Indian reviewers were decently happy with the performance though. This probably translates to poor software optimization when MKBHD reviewed which could’ve been resorted in the later updates. So, overall, you get great cameras with a great performance with outdoor lighting conditions. Low light and indoor photography was a little average- above average. But overall, you’re getting a great package for the price and almsot every reviewers were fully satisfied with the camera performance of the Redmi k20 Pro.
|-MKBHD “possibly the worst selfie camera””amazing how good the back cameras are”||1, 9|
|-MrWhoseTheBoss” does fall behind in dynamic range but for the price they’ve knocked it out the part”||9|
|-Geekyranjit “Camera performs really really good in outdoors”||9|
|-Beebom “these are some capable cameras and perform fairly well too”||8|
- 4000mAh with 27W fast charging support
- 17W provided under the box
- PUBG battery drain: 3 hrs 42min
Honestly, to my standards, a 4000mAh battery fairs decent and after being pampered having used 5000mAh batteried phones, I find the battery endurance of the Redmi k20 Pro be above average-good. Not that great. Most people find this battery to be very good. You’ll easily get a day and half worth of battery with casual use and shortly falling of a day with hard use.
- Great value for money
- Flagship grade performance
- Good battery life
- Loud earpiece
- Good rear camera performance
- Average front camera
- Buttons losing tactility easily.
the Redmi K20 Pro is a great phone and can be easily mentioned as the best phone under the price segment of Rs.25,000. Great build quality, great looking display, a funky popup camera, great camera and usage performance along with a good battery life makes the Redmi K20 Pro a desirable phone even in the mid 2020. I highly suggest the Redmi k20 Pro.
Also, check out the review of Poco X2 which happens to compete for the king title under the Rs.20,000 price segment.
